Not all VST hosts are suitable for Source Elements software as many hosts are 'editors' and not 'mixing' hosts. If you can record, for example, your microphone input with a live reverb, then your host should be suitable.
Any real-time VST host that supports VST 3.2 plug-ins should be compatible, however Source Elements does not, at this time, provide any official support for hosts other than those listed below.
| Source Elements | Source Elements Desktop (Free) |
| Adobe | Adobe Audition 2.0 - 3.0 * |
| Ableton | Ableton Live |
| Cakewalk | Cakewalk Sonar 6 |
| Cockos | Cockos Reaper |
| Fairlight | Fairlight Audio Bridge |
| Sony | Sony Vegas |
| Steinberg | Cubase, Nuendo |
* Please note that Source Elements plug-ins will not work with Adobe Audition 1.5 or lower.
Hosts such as Sony Sound Forge and Peak are not compatible with Source-Connect, as it is not possible to use a live input with VST plug-ins with these applications. We recommend you use our Source Elements Desktop host and use your editor for editing the subsequent recorded files.
